About
New Heights is the Pawcatuck, Connecticut satellite campus of Vista Life Innovations, Inc. (Vista); providing day services to neurodiverse adults. This campus expansion is part of Vista’s well-established programming along the Connecticut shoreline. Since its inception in 1989, Vista has campuses / service provision in New Haven, Middlesex and New London Counties. Vista’s mission is to provide training, support, and resources that empower individuals with disabilities to achieve personal success and belonging throughout their lives. Vista is accredited by the National Commission for the Accreditation of Special Education Services. The campuses provide services for individuals with a wide range of disabilities. Programming reflects a similar diversity with immersive, carefully selected worksites to cater to individual goals through art, recreation, nutrition, financial seminars, cooking / life skills, and wellness. Every journey is personal, and the curriculum reflects that.
Programming is year-round and on-going for over two hundred individuals annually. The dorm setting in Westbrook offers a college-like, live-in experience for life and social skills development. New Heights is a day program, running 9am-3pm, Monday through Friday. The building is the jumping off point for a day in the community at worksites like the Connecticut College Arboretum. Outings to places such as the library, the Y, or the bank help diversify learning opportunities. Lunch is included where individuals create menus and cook the food with support, as needed. This becomes a vital part of the life skills training component.
