Residential Care Home Cook
FLSA Status: This position is considered NON-EXEMPT in relation to the pay provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The work schedule is a “flex schedule” in that it may require work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift based on the needs of the individuals served by Harbor Side Care Home. If working hours extend beyond normal business hours, compensation will follow wage and hour guidelines established under the Fair Labor Standards Act as identified in Harbor Side Care Home’s Personnel Policies and Procedures.

Position: Residential Care Home Cook
Reports To: Residential Care Facility Manager
Salary: $22/hr

Responsibilities:
- The Cook prepares food in accordance with menus, diet specifications, and sanitary practices.
- Checks and records food temperatures during the cooking process.
- Reviews menus and records necessary substitutions.
- Assures that food supplies are available for the next meal and notifies supervisor of needed supplies.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area, cleaning spills and assisting in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, according to assignment
- Ensures proper storage of food, labeling of stored foods and that outdated foods are discarded.
- Utilizes cleaners and other hazardous materials in accordance to proper procedures.
- Follows facility fire safety and infection control practices and promptly reports any unsafe conditions or equipment.
- Greets residents, visitors, and staff courteously and with dignity following confidentiality standards and promotes resident rights.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Assist with training new kitchen staff and training residential care staff on kitchen duties.
Qualifications:
- Meet qualifications as required by local or state regulations.
- Must be able to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Experience with supply orders and inventory audits helpful.
- Written and oral communication skills required.
- Must have 1-2 years of experience working in a kitchen
