NOTICE OF ANTICIPATED VACANCY

DEPUTY TOWN CLERK

Full-time, non-exempt, union position, 35 hrs./week, w/benefits 

Starting salary $33.01/hr.

Salary range $33.01 - $38.83/hr.   

 

CURRENT CERTIFICATION AS A CERTIFIED CONNECTICUT TOWN CLERK AT TIME OF APPLICATION REQUIRED.


Under the supervision of the Town Clerk, the Deputy Town Clerk performs specialized clerical and administrative work involving the recording of land records, vital statistics and election documents. The position provides guidance to staff in all statutory, charter and ordinance provisions of the office and to provide information to other departments, State and Federal agencies and the public.  Additionally, the position assumes the responsibilities of the Town Clerk in the absence of the Town Clerk. The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with an Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and training and a minimum of three years of increasingly responsible clerical-administrative experience working in a Town Clerk’s Office. Concentration on and experience working with Land Records and Elections also required. 


A criminal record check and valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License are required. The Town of Stonington conducts a urinalysis drug test as part of the hiring process. The urinalysis drug test will be performed using a reliable methodology. The results of any such test shall be confidential and shall not be disclosed by the employer or its employees to any person other than any such employee to whom such disclosure is necessary; the results shall be maintained along with other employee medical records.
