Academic Specialist – Avery Point Academic Center
The University of Connecticut, Avery Point campus is seeking applicants for the following part time position:
Academic Specialist – Avery Point Academic Center
Under the supervision of the Manager of the Avery Point Academic Center, the individual in this position will assist in the supervision of the tutoring center and its staff consisting of undergraduate student peer tutors and undergraduate front desk staff. The Specialist assists in cultivating a welcoming environment in the Academic Center in order to assist staff in helping students reach their academic goals.
Minimum qualifications for the position are:
· Bachelor’s degree
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate effective communication and collaboration with students, Center staff, Center manager, and Avery Point faculty and staff
· Ability to be versatile, delegate tasks, problem solve, and easily adapt to changing priorities
· Tutoring experience at the collegiate level
· Supervisory experience
This position is anticipated to be 10 hours per week to start for the fall semester with the possibility of an extension. The targeted hourly rate is $22, commensurate with experience. This is an in-person position with a standardized schedule falling between the core operating hours of (9:00 am – 6:00 pm) on weekdays planned.
