Stories, Dreams, Desires: The Artists of Expressiones
3/21/2025 - 4/20/2025
Description
Throughout history, human beings have moved from one place to another—whether for a season or a lifetime, whether alone or in groups, whether forced by hardship or drawn by opportunity. No matter what the circumstances, every displacement raises the question of what to take and what to leave behind. We have all at times needed to learn new ways and possibly new languages, in new environments. How do you adapt? Does your identity change? Who decides where you belong, and how? Perhaps most importantly, how can a settled society gain wisdom and learn resilience from newcomers? With the number of displaced people worldwide rising to record highs, questions about our capacity to live together and flourish figure among the most crucial issues of our time. This spring, MMoA partners with Expressiones Cultural Center to explore the complex experience of migration.
