We’d like to invite you to a special community event celebrating a historic moment for Mystic’s culinary scene. For the first time ever, two chefs from Mystic have been named finalists for the prestigious James Beard Awards! held on June 10th. Join us in celebrating Chef David Standridge of The Shipwright’s Daughter (Best Chef, Northeast) and Chef Reneé Touponce of The Port of Call (Outstanding Chef) as they prepare to head off to Chicago as finalists in the 2024 James Beard Awards, to be held on June 10th. Considered the Oscars of the culinary world, the James Beard Foundation Awards are the highest honor for American chefs and culinary professionals. Reneé is the first chef in Connecticut history to be nominated, let alone as a finalist for Outstanding Chef in America. This is an incredible achievement for our community and the nominations are a testament to the talent and dedication of these two outstanding chefs. Mystic’s thriving culinary scene continues to gain national recognition, making this a particularly exciting time for our local food enthusiasts.
