GMCC Recognizes Erin Shea of Poppi’s Planet in the ‘Community Proud’ Series Sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is pleased to shine the spotlight on Erin Shea, the creative force behind the children’s show, Poppi’s Planet, in our 'Community Proud' series sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union.
Erin’s journey began with shooting videos on her phone and GoPro for about six years before teaming up with Justin Tucker of FWRD Content. Her dedication to creativity and performance is evident in every episode. Erin emphasizes, “What I want to encourage in the show is how kids can spark their creativity, spark their imaginations, going outside, looking up into the sky, what shapes are the clouds, really going back to the simple basics of the root of their own self-awareness. We focus on different breathing techniques, simple movements—there are so many different concepts that come to life in Poppi’s Planet that we want to encourage kids to do.”
Poppi’s Planet, a fun and energetic show, introduces children to strategies for identifying emotions, gaining self-awareness, and promoting joy. The show focuses on mindfulness, art, imagination, and more, making a significant impact on young audiences. Since its launch in September 2023, Poppi’s Planet has garnered over 400,000 subscribers.
Season 2 of Poppi’s Planet recently premiered, featuring local landmarks and Mystic Chamber Members such as the Mystic Seaport Museum, the Argia, Supercharged, the Mystic Noank Library, and J&R Seafood. The show's producer, Justin, plays a crucial role in bringing all the moving parts together. Erin shares, “Justin keeps me inspired and keeps the ideas flowing. We’re making magic!”
Beyond the screen, Erin continues to focus on the importance of giving back. She brings joy to live audiences with performances at the United Theatre and can be hired by schools and libraries for social-emotional school assemblies. Erin performs a one-woman show as Poppi featuring music, dance, instruments, and puppetry, inspired by her childhood favorites such as Pee Wee Herman, Fred Rogers, and Lucille Ball.
With a background in teaching theater and dance in various settings across the country—from schools to hospitals—Erin uses puppetry, movement, and theatrics to promote self and bodily awareness. Inspired by Social Emotional Learning, Erin has developed strategies to help children stay focused, mindful, and kind. Her efforts have positively impacted young people nationwide, encouraging them to embrace their unique selves and build resilience. Erin is an amazing talent who cares for all the children in our community and beyond. With her rise to stardom, Erin remains humble and helpful in elevating our community.
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize Erin Schea for her contributions to our community and beyond. Her dedication to nurturing young minds and her commitment to her community make her a true embodiment of what it means to be Community Proud.
