GMCC Spotlights Dana Campbell in the 'Community Proud' Series Sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is proud to feature Dana Campbell in its ‘Community
Proud’ series. Dana owns Shuttle Press and Bindery, a bookbinding and letterpress studio
located in the Velvet Mill in Stonington.
When asked what makes Stonington feel like home, Dana shared that she takes great pride in
bringing something unique to the area. After growing up in Stonington, Dana ventured to the
greater Boston area, but ultimately returned to the Connecticut coastline. Her experiences in
Boston helped shape her artistry, and she feels a deep sense of purpose in giving back to the
community that raised her.
Dana’s work is a fusion of styles and cultures, reflecting her commitment to high-quality artistry
while remaining at an accessible price point. She believes great art should inspire and connect
with people across all backgrounds and walks of life, bringing something truly special to
Stonington.
A passion for tradition drives Dana’s work, rooted in the family craft and centuries-old
methods. While her choice of materials is often modern, her craftsmanship remains timeless
and handcrafted, staying true to the legacy of the art form. “There’s something really beautiful
about building upon the history that came before and putting your own modern spin on it,” she
says, adding that her husband, Ethan, has been her biggest cheerleader throughout her
journey.
Dana offers bookbinding and repair services, often restoring Bibles from the 1800s, antique
wedding vow books, and family heirlooms. She is one of the few artisans in Connecticut skilled
in book repair, offering families the chance to preserve treasured pieces.
In her free time, Dana writes poetry, enjoys reading, and playing the ukulele. Her store is open
Thursday through Sunday at the Velvet Mill, and she welcomes visitors to come explore,
commission custom work, and get to know the presses.
The 'Community Proud' Series sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union continues to shine a
