GMCC Spotlights Alicia Brothers in the ‘Community Proud’ Series, Sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union
Alicia Brothers’ path to becoming the founder of 41 North Digital isn’t a typical one, but it’s a story deeply rooted in resilience, family, and community. Growing up in North Jersey in a tight-knit Sicilian family, Alicia was raised on a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit, thanks to parents who have run a restaurant for over 40 years. That early exposure to small business ownership planted the seed for what would eventually become her own professional journey—one that would lead her to Niantic, Connecticut, and into the heart of a community that now feels like home.
After graduating from Seton Hall University, where she met her husband Ryan, Alicia pursued a law degree at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. During her time in law school, she also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), giving a voice to children in the Rhode Island court system. She passed the bar exam while pregnant with her first child and began practicing family law and working as a domestic violence victim advocate. But as her family grew, Alicia made the decision to step away from the legal world to be more present at home.
Even then, her drive to stay mentally active never dimmed. What started as freelance writing and influencer work gradually evolved into something more: a new career supporting other small business owners, many of whom, like Alicia, were parents striving for flexibility and fulfillment. She found herself naturally drawn to digital marketing—writing copy, strategizing content, and learning the ins and outs of SEO, PPC, and website design. With every new project, her confidence grew, and in 2017, she officially launched her own agency, Connecticut Coast Media, which would later become 41 North Digital.
Now based in Niantic, 41 North Digital is a full-service digital marketing agency with a small, deeply committed team. Alicia and Ryan are at the center of it all—working directly with clients and building partnerships that go beyond business. Their approach is personal: no handoffs, no corporate red tape. Just honest, strategic work executed by a trusted team they’ve carefully curated. “When you work with us, you’re not just hiring an agency,” Alicia says. “You’re partnering with people who are fully invested in your success.”
What sets 41 North apart isn’t just the technical expertise; it’s the authenticity behind every client relationship. Alicia and Ryan work closely with their clients, becoming an extension of their team and weaving friendship into the fabric of their business. “We’re not just marketers—we’re partners,” she says. “We text with our clients, have dinner with them, go to their kids’ games. It’s personal. And we believe that’s how you build trust.”
Alicia credits the Niantic community for being a vital part of her business journey. Initially moving to the area for her husband’s family, she quickly fell in love with the charm and warmth of Niantic and never looked back. The support from organizations like Niantic Main Street and the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce has been instrumental, especially in the early stages of growing 41 North Digital. Alicia is also a part of a few other networking groups like Shoreline United Networking, the Old Saybrook Chamber and Naturally New England.
Over the years, Alicia has faced the typical hurdles of building a business from the ground up—balancing work and motherhood, learning the ropes of an entirely new industry, and growing at a pace that stayed true to her values. But through it all, she’s stayed committed to her original mission: building long-term, transparent partnerships rooted in trust and integrity. Alicia says that through starting 41 North Digital, she’s built a space where she is valued by the clients that she serves-who trust her not because of what they assume she can do, but because of the results she delivers. This is a huge driver for her and encourages her to support other business owners—especially women carving out their own path—because she knows firsthand that with passion, grit, and a values-driven mission, it is absolutely possible to build something meaningful.
When asked what inspires her, Alicia responded “Innovation. Especially in the Mystic region, we’re surrounded by businesses with incredibly unique concepts. The creativity and drive it takes to turn an idea into something tangible—and then scale it—is something I find endlessly inspiring.”
In 2025, 41 North Digital stands as a testament to the power of organic growth and meaningful connection. The agency now supports a full roster of its own clients and continues to serve businesses across industries including tourism, government, and retail. But no matter how much the business expands, Alicia remains grounded in what matters most: her family, her team, and the community that welcomed her with open arms.
Alicia wants to extend a special thank you to Ryan, her husband and business partner, who has always been her biggest supporter and number one advocate. And to her kids, Nick, Luke, Kate and Jack for always championing her.
From law school and advocacy to motherhood and marketing, Alicia Brothers has woven every chapter of her story into a business that uplifts others. Through 41 North Digital, she’s not only helping small businesses grow—she’s also proving that when community and purpose come together, success becomes a shared story.
