Woodshop CNC - Holiday Ornaments
Saturday, December 14, 2024 (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM) (EST)
Description
This class will provide instruction in use of the CNC router to create two halves of an ornament "sandwich" which will accept a pre-cut piece of stained glass in a color of the participant's choice. Participants will then glue the halves and add ribbon, taking home a ready-to-hang ornament. The wood outer faces can be left bare or painted, stained, or varnished. Participants will use pre-designed patterns in the CNC design software but will gain experience with importing, sizing, and checking the design before carving, as well as bit selection and the mechanics of carving; CNC certification is available for members.
Participants agree to read the CNC guide available on the Spark wiki and make an Easel account before class. (Instructor will send directions prior.)
Due to the nature of the tool, this class will require significant work on the computer. Students in this class are required to be computer literate, and need bring their own laptop to class. Students who are unable to supply their own laptop should talk to Spark before signing up for the class.
All materials and safety equipment will be supplied as part of the class.
