Mystic is a beloved coastal Connecticut town with a burgeoning craft cocktail, beer and wine scene that is making waves — pun very much intended — on the national level.
I’ve been visiting Mystic since I was a young kid and fell in love with its full-immersion New England nautical vibes. The village is home to the world-famous Mystic Seaport Museum, which has several tall wooden ships including the Charles W. Morgan, which I visit almost every time I’m in town. The Mystic Aquarium has also long been a tourist destination. However, in recent years, Mystic has become known for its food and beverage scene in addition to ships and sea creatures. Its pizza, pastries, cocktails, and fine dining have all garnered national acclaim and attention. That’s made getting a reservation harder during my visits, but I’m happy to see the world start to take notice of this wonderful seaside destination. I’ve also been impressed by the way several Mystic establishments have gone all in with their efforts to provide visitors with truly world-class beer, wine and cocktails. Here are my favorite places to drink in Mystic as well as a few tips on where to stay.
