A Grand Reunion: Connecticut Classic Mystic Pizza to Be Featured at Long Weekend Festival

Thursday, July 2, 2026 (8:30 PM - 10:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

One of Connecticut’s most beloved films, Mystic Pizza, will be celebrated during Long Weekend, Connecticut’s five-day cultural festival honoring America’s 250th anniversary through film, arts, and community experiences.

The iconic 1988 coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama will be presented on Thursday, July 2, from 8:30 PM to 10:30 PM as part of the festival’s film program, bringing audiences together to revisit a story that has become deeply woven into Connecticut’s cultural identity.

Speaking of bringing people together, actors Geraldine Leer and Janet Zarish, as well as producer Scott Rosenfelt will participate in a special Q&A following the screening of the film. Likely the first time that they’ve been together since the release of the film in 1988. This is no longer just a film festival, it’s a grand reunion!

The film was shot throughout Connecticut, including locations in Mystic, Stonington, Groton, Noank, and Pawcatuck, capturing the charm and character of the state's coastal communities. Nearly four decades after its release, Mystic Pizza continues to resonate with audiences for its authentic storytelling, memorable performances, and celebration of New England life.

Long Weekend's inclusion of Mystic Pizza highlights the festival's mission to showcase stories that reflect Connecticut's creative spirit and cultural impact, while connecting audiences with films that have shaped generations.
