Founded by Dimitria, a jewelry industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, Petra Star is rooted in a deep commitment to sustainability and ethical craftsmanship. Dimitria's career spans some of the most respected names in the industry, from serving as buyer for Shreve & Co., the oldest jewelry store in San Francisco, to managing Lang Antiques, one of the most globally recognized antique jewelry galleries. A graduate of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program and recipient of a SeCTerise grant from the State of Connecticut, Dimitria brings both professional depth and entrepreneurial vision to downtown Mystic.

Petra Star understands that jewelry shopping can feel intimidating — which is exactly why the boutique was designed to be the opposite. The atmosphere is relaxed, educational, and personal, with no pressure and no pretense. The curated collection spans pieces dating from the 1700s through modern vintage, alongside contemporary sustainable artisan jewelry crafted from recycled materials, and Petra Star's signature alternative bridal engagement rings and wedding bands.

The boutique also features a rotating exhibit space where artists who share the same ethos can showcase their work; a Jewelry for a Cause line that donates 20% of proceeds to meaningful causes; and the Linked by Love Permanent Jewelry experience — a memorable bonding occasion for friends, couples, and families.
