Elaborating upon Native Prospects, representatives from Connecticut’s five recognized Indigenous Tribes collaborated to curate the companion exhibition naqutiwowok/continuance, which honors the enduring relationship between Connecticut’s Tribal communities and the land they have called home for time immemorial. naqutiwowok, meaning “they continue to do,” speaks to the resilience of these communities as they navigate change, repair the bonds with nature and each other, and move forward with strength. The artworks reflect the thoughts and experiences of people rooted in the landscape, offering perspectives that blend personal histories with collective traditions. Through this exhibit, we are reminded that Indigeneity is not static; it is living, evolving, and continuing—much like the seasonal cycles that shape our world.
