Sculptural Expressions in Clay: A Garden Sculpture Class

Description

Taught by Carol Mann. In this class, participants design and create an original artistic sculpture using a durable, air-drying all-weather clay suitable for both indoor display and outdoor garden settings. Working from a subject of their choice, each student begin by developing a small sketch model to explore form and concept. The process includes building a supportive armature, applying and shaping clay, and refining surface details during both the wet and dry stages of sculpting. This workshop emphasizes both technical skills and creative expression, encouraging thoughtful design and personal style. Instruction covers basic sculptural techniques, structural considerations for outdoor durability, and finishing methods. No prior sculpting experience is necessary.
