Description
Taught by Laura LoTurco-Gorian.
This workshop offers an intensive, hands-on learning experience focused on
understanding monotypes, a painterly printmaking process that allows for flexibility and
freedom using drawing and painting methods. Each print is unique, and unlike many
other printmaking techniques, monotypes do not require a press. This process
encourages experimentation with a variety of materials and methods, often resulting in
spontaneous and surprising outcomes.
Gel plates add further flexibility for creating texture-rich prints. The workshop explores
the distinctive impressions that can be achieved by combining these techniques and
simple materials, providing a creative and accessible introduction to this versatile
printing method suitable for both beginners and experienced artists.
All materials are provided, with the exception of the gel plate. Participants are
encouraged to purchase a gel plate in any size that fits their needs and budget
(available online). Bringing baby wipes and a smock is recommended.
A $5 materials fee is payable to the instructor.
Please bring a lunch.
