New England is a land of stories, folktales, and fireside yarns passed down from generation to generation. Connecticut has more than its share of such legends, tales of abandoned villages, phantom ships, wicked witches, and haunted woods. Where did these folktales begin, and why did people believe them? Is there a grain of truth at the heart of the stories? Students will put on their detective caps in this six-week program examining some of Connecticut’s strangest folklore and the surprising history from which the legends grew!
