The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce Recognizes 4 Inspirational Coaches from Girls on the Run at Northeast Academy in the ‘Community Proud’ Series

Community Proud, Celebrating Those That Live and Work Among Us!

The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce recognizes four remarkable coaches from Girls on the Run at Northeast Academy in our ‘Community Proud’ series sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union.

Bruce Flax, President of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, expressed the significance of this recognition, saying, “We believe in celebrating the community heroes who live among us—maybe it’s a Stonington lifer, or the person with that interesting story who connects to the community in a meaningful way, or the third generation tradesman who carries on their family name. This series is designed to spotlight the heartbeat of the community!”

Lynore Plouffe, Tara Hoyt, Justin Brinner, and Amanda Sisley have dedicated themselves as coaches for Girls on the Run at Northeast Academy for multiple seasons, serving as role models for the program’s participants.

Girls on the Run is a nationally acclaimed non-profit organization committed to empowering third to eighth-grade girls through programs that enhance their social, emotional, physical, and behavioral skills. The program’s curriculum focuses on fostering competence, confidence, connection, character, caring, and contribution in young girls, incorporating running and various physical activities. These transformative lessons are delivered by compassionate and skilled coaches trained to effectively impart the curriculum.

Lynore Plouffe shared her passion for the program, stating, “Girls on the Run holds a special place in my heart! I am deeply honored and grateful to guide the girls in our community, including my own daughter, in cultivating confidence, building positive relationships, and making a positive impact on the world around them, all while staying active.”

Each Spring and Fall, Lynore, Tara, Justin, and Amanda generously volunteer their time, dedicating two days a week for ten weeks to inspire, motivate, and uplift the girls in each season. Furthermore, they serve as outstanding ambassadors for the program, exemplifying the finest qualities of the Groton/Mystic community.

Join us in celebrating and recognizing these exceptional coaches who are making a difference in the lives of young girls and contributing to the strength and vitality of our community.
