The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is proud to spotlight Majan and Ederjson (EJ) Pierre in our ‘Community Proud’ series sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union. We want to celebrate their entrepreneurial spirit, cultural contributions, and deep commitment to the community.

Majan and EJ’s journey began in Norwich, where they both attended Norwich Free Academy before moving to New London in 2013. Today, they reside in Ledyard with their two daughters, Ellie and Esmee. Over the past two decades, this dynamic duo has successfully built a thriving cleaning business and, most recently, opened Favorites Bistro Bar—an elegantly furnished Caribbean restaurant located in the heart of downtown New London.

Favorites Bistro Bar is more than just a restaurant; it’s a tribute to the rich tapestry of Caribbean culture, seamlessly blending French, African, and Spanish influences into dishes that are both bold and soulful. From traditional favorites to innovative culinary creations, each plate is crafted with love and expertise.

But what truly sets Favorites apart is Majan and EJ’s unwavering commitment to hospitality. They believe that food is a universal language—one that transcends barriers, brings people together, and ignites the senses. Their restaurant is filled with warmth, joy, and laughter, making it a gathering place for the community.

Beyond the restaurant’s doors, Majan and EJ are dedicated to giving back. They have been actively involved in Sailfest, Party of 12, Mystic’s Celebration of Black History, Celebrate Mystic, and local toy drives. Their generosity and passion for community engagement reflect their belief in the power of connection and cultural exchange.

When asked what makes this area home, Majan and EJ responded without hesitation: “The people. We love the people here, and that’s why we decided to start our businesses here. There’s something multicultural about this area.”

Majan and EJ thrive on the freedom that entrepreneurship offers. While the path isn’t always clear, their hands-on approach, hard work, and willingness to take risks ensure success. “You become a better person through all these experiences—more well-rounded,” EJ reflects.

Majan, inspired by the creative process, finds joy in building something meaningful. “My future inspires me. I have a clear vision of where I’m going, and that keeps me moving forward.” For EJ, the drive comes from wanting to touch more lives. “People have had a profound impact on my life in so many different ways, and I want to do that for others.”

Since opening in April 2023, Favorites Bistro Bar has become a hub for unique dining experiences. Their popular Passport Dinners highlight different countries’ cuisines and cultures, offering guests an immersive journey through food. Looking ahead, they are excited to launch their new spring menu and host jazz nights on the deck this summer.

For Majan and EJ, it’s all about crafting unforgettable experiences. “We’re so appreciative and grateful for this journey.” Majan shares. Whether through their food, their hospitality, or their dedication to the community, their passion shines through in everything they do.
