GMCC Spotlights Judy Mann in 'Community Proud' Series, Sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is proud to feature Judy Mann in the latest installment of the ‘Community Proud’ series, sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union. Judy Mann, a beloved figure in the community, is renowned for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the people of Mystic.
Judy, along with her husband Steven, has been a pillar of the Mystic community for over 50 years. Together, they have owned and operated Pot of Green, a cherished local florist, for an impressive 51 years. Their shop has become more than just a business; it’s a community hub where Judy’s friendly demeanor and their black and white Papillon Pomeranian, Nikki, who serves as the shop’s official greeter, have made lasting impressions on countless customers.
Over the years, Pot of Green has evolved significantly, expanding from its initial focus on indoor house plants to offering a wide range of outdoor plants, cut flowers, annuals, perennials, and shrubs. The shop has moved locations several times, from downtown Mystic to its current location at 165 S. Broad St. since 2001.
Judy’s favorite part of her work is connecting with people from all walks of life and helping them celebrate life’s special moments. Whether she’s arranging flowers for weddings, funerals, bar mitzvahs, memorial services, graduations, or birthdays, Judy takes pride in making people happy.
In addition to her work at Pot of Green, Judy has been a dedicated volunteer and board member at the New London Community Meal Center for 35 years, where she coordinates over 400 volunteers. She began this journey with a small group of friends serving lunch and has been a steadfast presence at the Meal Center ever since. Judy also volunteers at the New London Homeless Hospitality Center further exemplifying her deep commitment to giving back.
Judy and Steve Mann’s contributions to the Mystic community are truly remarkable. From creating beautiful floral arrangements for multiple generations to partnering with local businesses like Chelsea Groton Bank, Mystic Marriott, Hilton Mystic, Norwich Inn and Spa, and Saltwater Farm Vineyard, their impact is far-reaching.
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is honored to celebrate Judy Mann’s incredible legacy and her continued dedication to the community.
