GMCC Spotlights Elizabeth Tetlow in the ‘Community Proud’ Series Sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union

The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is proud to spotlight Elizabeth Tetlow in our ‘Community Proud’ series, sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union. A lifelong resident of Westerly, Liz has spent over half her life working in Mystic, contributing to its business community through her dedication to customer service and business relations.

Liz and her husband, Bruce, both worked at Mystic Color Lab, a nationally known film processing company that once employed around 120 people in Mystic. When Mystic Color Lab closed, Bruce and a few partners saw an opportunity to continue providing high-quality photo services. Taking a leap of faith, they founded ABC Photo Lab. Today, ABC Photo Lab is a sole proprietorship that has been serving the community for over 22 years, evolving to meet the changing needs of the industry.

ABC Photo Lab was originally located in the Packer building then moved to Olde Mistick Village and focused on photo processing, since then, the company has transitioned over the years to include a wide range of commercial printing services, including signage, business cards, and flyers. Liz emphasizes, “With time, you can learn a lot of things,” and her ability to adapt has been key to ABC Photo Lab’s longevity and success.

ABC Photo Lab is deeply involved in the Mystic community. The business sponsors numerous local organizations and causes, including the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, Sails Up for Cancer, Hope in Focus, and Theatre Scrapbook. Liz’s dedication to the community extends beyond her business—her connections with local merchants and organizations have made ABC a trusted partner for many Mystic institutions, including the Mystic Aquarium, the Whaler’s Inn, 85th Day Group (The Engine Room, The Port of Call, The Oyster Club, Haring’s), the Granite Theatre, the Eastern CT Symphony, and the Chorus of Westerly.

Beyond her work at ABC Photo Lab, Liz has been a custom framer for 25 years. One of her most special projects was framing David Standridge’s James Beard Award for Shipwright’s Daughter.

Liz finds inspiration in her family. She and Bruce have a 19-year-old daughter, Abby, and she enjoys spending her free time cooking and traveling—especially to Disney, where she has visited over 50 times! ABC Photo Lab remains a true family business, with Liz’s brother, David, working alongside her, and Bruce’s father still lending a hand in the shop.

Even though Liz lives in Westerly, Mystic has been her second home for decades. “The people make this home,” she says. “It’s a fantastic community, a super welcoming place. It’s such a gem, and I’m happy to drive into this town every day.”

ABC Photo Lab’s success is built on customer service, business relationships, and a commitment to quality. As a business owner and community member, Liz exemplifies what it means to be ‘Community Proud.’ Her expertise, dedication, and passion for helping others have made ABC Photo Lab an integral part of Mystic’s business landscape, ensuring that both memories and businesses thrive for years to come.
