GMCC Spotlights Beau Lucas in the ‘Community Proud’ Series, Sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union
The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize Beau Lucas in our Community Proud series, sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union. Beau’s journey to Mystic began in 1979 when his family moved to New London from New Mexico. His mother settled in Misquamicut in 1989, and since then, Beau has become a deeply rooted and impactful member of our community.
Beau has dedicated 24 years to coaching high school and youth sports in Mystic, Westerly, and Waterford. For Beau, coaching has always been about more than just the game—it’s a vehicle for building strong individuals and teaching them the value of being part of something greater than themselves. “I wanted to create strong, productive members of society,” he shared.
Beau’s commitment to the community extends beyond the field. At Sentry Point Development Group, where he is a co-owner, a unique community outreach program allows people to nominate individuals in need of assistance. Each month, Sentry Point selects a candidate—often elderly individuals or low-income families—to provide handyman services or other forms of help. This initiative exemplifies Beau’s belief in uplifting those around him.
Sentry Point Development Group, co-owned by Beau Lucas, Dan Cunningham, and Eric Murphy, specializes in design, building, and remodeling services. From Narragansett to East Lyme, they offer a range of services—from simple handyman repairs to large-scale custom home projects. Beau’s team works closely with clients, treating them as partners in the building process and ensuring their vision comes to life.
One of Beau’s passions is improving the quality of life for the elderly. Sentry Point focuses on CAPS (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist) and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) projects, ensuring homes are safe and accessible while allowing individuals to maintain their independence. “Many of our projects give us the warm and fuzzies because we know we’re enhancing lives,” Beau said.
When asked what makes the Southeastern, CT area special, Beau pointed to its unique blend of history and culture. “The community here has an amazing historical feel, and the people genuinely appreciate and want to protect it,” he said. Beau’s deep ties to the area—including his close-knit family—have strengthened his commitment to giving back.
As a business owner, Beau takes pride in creating an environment where his team feels motivated and fulfilled. “Knowing that our work makes a positive impact on individuals and the community is incredibly rewarding,” he said. Integrity and pride define the culture at Sentry Point, where every team member is committed to excellence.
In his free time, Beau enjoys the arts—painting, sculpting, theater—and is an active member of the local arts community. He also loves photography, particularly wildlife and landscapes, and spending time outdoors at the beach. Family remains at the heart of Beau’s life; he is especially close to his three sisters and values time spent with loved ones.
Thank you, Beau, for your commitment to the Southeastern, CT area. Your passion for uplifting others and preserving the unique spirit of our community is truly inspiring.
