GMCC Recognizes Judi Caracausa in the 'Community Proud' Series, Sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union

The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor Judi Caracausa in our Community Proud series, sponsored by CorePlus Credit Union. Judi is a beloved Mystic resident and a highly respected real estate broker who has dedicated decades to serving the local community. This year, she will take center stage as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Mystic Irish Parade, marking the 20th anniversary of this cherished tradition.

Judi, affectionately known as “Miss Mystic,” has been an integral part of the Mystic community for decades. Her infectious energy and kind heart have made her a true ambassador for the town, embodying the spirit of Mystic with every endeavor she undertakes. Reflecting on this honor, Judi shared, “I feel so fortunate to be part of such a wonderful tradition and to work with the best people every day. I get to sell paradise!”

Judi’s deep-rooted love for Mystic began when her mother moved Judi and her sister, Celeste, to Noank 55 years ago. Born and raised in New London, Judi graduated Carl C. Cutler Junior High School and Robert E. Fitch Senior High School, and her family's ties to the local business community run deep. In 1980, Judi, alongside her mother and sister, opened The Market on Noank Road—Mystic's first gourmet specialty food shop. Their vision was to bring something truly special to the area, and it quickly became a staple in the community. Later, in 1995, Judi and Celeste launched Market Realty, LLC, a business that has since become a cornerstone of Mystic's real estate landscape. Judi is currently with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty on Cottrell Street in Historic Downtown Mystic.

“Opening The Market in 1980 and Market Realty, LLC in 1995 were truly the highlights of my life,” said Judi. Her passion for the town and its people is evident in every aspect of her work. “Mystic is a very gentle community. We still say please and thank you, we look out for each other, and we support each other through thick and thin. There are many beautiful shoreline towns in Connecticut, but the people who live in Mystic and Stonington are truly special.”

Beyond her professional success, Judi is a dedicated community supporter. She has been a longtime advocate for Mystic's vibrant arts and culture scene, supporting the Summer Sounds and Blue Monday Concert Series in Mystic River Park. Her real estate office, located at 28 Cottrell Street #28E, has been her home base for almost 40 years, making her the longest-standing tenant in that space. She has witnessed and contributed to the area’s growth and transformation firsthand.

Judi is also deeply passionate about healthcare advocacy, recognizing the value of having world-class medical care locally and within an hour's reach including Hartford Healthcare and Yale New Haven Hospitals. Judi also supports “Discovery to Cure,” a research foundation dedicated to cancer research at Smilow-Yale Cancer Center. Her commitment to giving back extends far beyond her profession; it is a core part of who she is.

When asked what inspires her, Judi’s answer was immediate: her sister, Celeste, who passed away a few years ago. Their bond was unbreakable, and they built their businesses together. “I wake up every day wanting to live my best life, in honor of my sister, as she would want me to”, she said.

Judi's advice to those who want to make a difference in their community is simple yet profound: “Show up! Work hard, and be kind.” She emphasizes the importance of empathy, reminding others that you never truly know what someone else is going through.

Her sense of humor is another defining trait. She loves quick wit and banter, and she enjoys surrounding herself with people who bring laughter into her life. In her free time, Judi cherishes long walks with friends, watching classic movies, and spending as much time as possible near or on the water.

With over 40 years of experience in real estate, Judi has built an impressive career navigating Mystic’s unique market. Her expertise spans both residential and commercial properties, particularly in Historic Downtown Mystic, where she has facilitated countless transactions—including selling the same building 7 times! Her success is built on relationships, trust, and an unwavering dedication to her clients.

As she leads the Mystic Irish Parade this March 23rd, Judi Caracausa will not only be celebrating a beloved Mystic tradition but also the extraordinary life she has built in this community. Her impact on Mystic is undeniable through her legacy of kindness, resilience, and dedication.

The Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce congratulates Judi on this well-deserved honor and thanks her for being a shining example of what it means to be Community Proud.
