March in Mystic is basically begging for an Irish whiskey night. For this St. Patrick’s season session at Spencer & Lynn, we’re welcoming back our good friend Chef Anthony Caporale, Director of Spirits Education at New York’s award winning Institute of Culinary Education, for a guided tasting that’s equal parts delicious and genuinely fascinating.
Anthony will lead a master tasting of four Irish whiskies, using each pour to tell the bigger story of Ireland’s signature spirit, where it came from, how it changed, and why it’s having such a moment again. You’ll learn how to taste with confidence, how to spot key style differences, and how to find bottles you’ll actually want to drink (and share).
Expect a warm, relaxed vibe. This isn’t a lecture. It’s a guided tasting with real takeaways, plenty of time for questions, and the kind of storytelling that makes the next sip even better.
What you’ll do
- Taste four Irish whiskies, guided start to finish
- Learn how Irish whiskey is made and what makes it distinct
- Understand the core styles (and what those words on the label really mean)
- Explore how maturation shapes flavor, texture, and finish
- Leave with practical “what to buy next” guidance, whether you sip neat, on a rock, or in a cocktail
