SOUTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT WOMEN’S NETWORK ANNOUNCES DEBBIE MCGRATH AS INCOMING PRESIDENT

(Waterford, CT — May 22, 2026)  The Southeastern Connecticut Women's Network proudly announces the election of Debbie McGrath as President of the organization for the upcoming term. McGrath will officially be installed during the Network’s luncheon on Wednesday, June 17 at 11:30 a.m. at Little Neck Restaurant & Events at Great Neck Country Club located at 28 Lamphere Road, Waterford, CT 06385. For more information and to reserve a seat for the luncheon event, visit www.sectwomensnetwork.com.

A dedicated member of the Network for 19 years, McGrath has served on the Board of Directors for many years and previously held the position of President during the 2014–2015 term. Her longstanding commitment to leadership, mentorship, and community service has made her a respected figure throughout Southeastern Connecticut.

McGrath was honored with the Network’s Heron Award in 2015 and received the organization’s prestigious Woman of the Year Award in 2020. Since relocating to Southeastern Connecticut in 1997, McGrath has devoted nearly three decades to supporting local nonprofits, businesses, charitable initiatives, and community causes, such as Safe Futures, a sister organization of the Network. Her passion for helping others and building meaningful connections reflects the mission of the organization she now leads once again. McGrath is employed is the Office Manager at Walker Electric, LLC in New London.

"As anthropologist Margaret Mead famously stated, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” I am looking forward to leading the Southeastern Connecticut Women’s Network as it continues to embody that philosophy," said McGrath.

The Southeastern Connecticut Women’s Network was founded in 1976 by Millie Devine  at a time when many business organizations did not allow women as members. Recognizing the importance of professional connections and mutual support, Devine established a space where women could network, grow professionally, and empower one another. For nearly 50 years, the Southeastern Connecticut Women’s Network has remained committed to  being “More Than Networking — A Community That Lifts You Up.” The organization continues to foster professional growth, personal connection, and community impact through monthly luncheon meetings held every third Wednesday, evening gatherings called Network @ Night, and Coffee & Connections events held on the first Wednesday morning of each month.

The public is welcome to attend the June 17 Installation of Leadership luncheon; membership in the Network is not required. Pre-registration is preferred. The event offers an opportunity for attendees to connect with professional women, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and supporters from across the region while celebrating the Network’s continued legacy of leadership and service.
