SUMMARY:Ship to Shore: A Marine Show
DESCRIPTION:On view through May 29\, "Ship to Shore: A Marine Show"\, at the Lyme Art Association\, celebrates the marine genre\, featuring a range of subjects from tranquil harbors to turbulent seas. From calm waters to crashing waves\, open seas to secluded marshes\, this annual exhibition of "Ship to Shore" celebrates the marine genre by encompassing a broad range of subjects related to the sea and its surrounding environment\, and displays a variety of artistic styles and mediums of representational artwork that reflect nautical and marine themes. Running concurrently are "A Closer Look" and "There Is Power"\, Jacqueline Stella's solo show. Sometimes the smallest details reveal the greatest depth\, and the artwork in "A Closer Look" focuses on magnification or close-up views of objects\, on intimate subject matter\, or on a slowed way of seeing the world. This exhibition celebrates observation\, detail\, and discovery\, with artworks that ask viewers to pause and notice what might otherwise go unseen. In "There Is Power"\, Jacqueline Stella demonstrates through portraiture and still life that objects and figures carry symbolic weight\, reinforcing the idea that nothing within the composition is incidental. The exhibition ultimately positions painting as a space for attention and inward focus\, suggesting that power can be found in belief\, perception\, and the often overlooked moments that shape inner life.\nImage: Michael Centrella\, Gloucester Harbor View\, oil paints\, 18x18 inches
