DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 3 mile group hike through the Historic Pequot Woods in Mystic\, sponsored by the Mystic River Historical Society. Pequot Woods Park is a 140 acre park featuring hiking trails\, a pond\, streams\, stone and wooden bridges\, and viewing benches. We will traverse a 3-mile loop trail\, covering moderate terrain with minimal elevation. This hike is suitable for families\, and is pet-friendly (dogs must be leashed). Please note that the trail can be muddy and wet\, so please wear appropriate footwear.\nA short distance away from Pequot Woods Park\, a famous battle was fought in 1637\, known to historians as The Massacre at Mystic. A large force of colonists and their allies attacked the Mystic fort of the widely-feared Pequot Tribe. After the attack\, the battle continued westward through what is now known as the Pequot Woods.
