Hike The Historic Pequot Trail In Mystic

Join us for a 3 mile group hike through the Historic Pequot Woods in Mystic, sponsored by the Mystic River Historical Society. Pequot Woods Park is a 140 acre park featuring hiking trails, a pond, streams, stone and wooden bridges, and viewing benches. We will traverse a 3-mile loop trail, covering moderate terrain with minimal elevation. This hike is suitable for families, and is pet-friendly (dogs must be leashed). Please note that the trail can be muddy and wet, so please wear appropriate footwear.
A short distance away from Pequot Woods Park, a famous battle was fought in 1637, known to historians as The Massacre at Mystic. A large force of colonists and their allies attacked the Mystic fort of the widely-feared Pequot Tribe. After the attack, the battle continued westward through what is now known as the Pequot Woods. Artifacts from that encounter are still being found and cataloged today.
Please arrive 20 minutes early to the parking lot at 389 Sandy Hollow Rd. Parking is very limited, so carpooling is recommended. A representative will meet you to provide parking assistance.
