Roode Concert : West River Junction
July 29, 2026 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
(EDT)
Description
Join us this summer for the Mystic & Noank Library's annual Roode Memorial Concert Series, a series of free concerts at the Mystic & Noank Library! These concerts celebrate the life of Mystic & Noank Library patrons Agnes and Carl Roode. The Roodes were longtime Mystic residents who loved music and the Library. Their family continues the tradition of honoring their legacy with a wonderful lineup of talented musicians in 2026.
West River Junction mixes traditional and contemporary bluegrass into a string music atmosphere. While their roots are in bluegrass, West River Junction brings to the table–a blend of traditional and progressive bluegrass. You might hear West River playing old-timey standards one minute and progressive folk or rock-'n-roll the next.
They pull influences from the likes of Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, Doc Watson, and David Grisman. But we also are impacted by music from modern rock greats like Elton John to Pink Floyd to G-n-R. With these influences, West River Junction has developed a collection of original tunes as well as reimagined rock songs in a bluegrass style.
They have played in venues all around, including: The Podunk Bluegrass Festival, St. John’s Bluegrass Festival, The International Arts & Ideas Festival, and Cafe Nine.
This program will take place on the library lawn, weather permitting or held upstairs in the Spicer Reading Room In case of inclement weather. Registration is not required. All ages welcome!
Should the program move indoors seating will be first come, first served until capacity is met.
