As part of our year-long programming for Connecticut’s celebration of America 250, Professor Nancy Steenburg, a UConn history professor at Avery Point for nearly thirty years, will offer a presentation on womens’ cultural and social structures during 18th century America. Dr. Steenburg’s presentation will focus on the societal expectations placed upon women and some of the subversive acts women committed to defend their agency and rebuke or overcome societal norms that often oppressed them.
