The Sky is Made of Water: How to Paint Atmospheric Skies, Clouds, and Changing Weather in Watercolor

February 8, 2025 10:00 AM - February 9, 2025 3:00 PM (EST)

Description

2 Day Workshop

The sky creates the atmosphere, light and mood of your paintings. In this workshop we will explore expressive approaches to painting skies during all seasons and changing weather conditions, with a focus on achieving a sense of light and atmosphere in your scene. This workshop will focus on helping students understand the sky as the light source, how to create a convincing transition between the dome of sky and the horizon, and how to paint clouds in their many forms as an essential element of the composition. We will focus on how to convey color and tonal variations in skies and clouds to establish the season, weather, and time of day of your scene.
