(EST)
Description
As part of our Black Voices series, the UNITED and Westerly ARC present a very special screening of the feature documentary Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North. In the film, filmmaker Katrina Browne discovers that her New England ancestors were the largest slave-trading family in U.S. history. She and nine cousins retrace the Triangle Trade and gain powerful new perspectives on the black/white divide. The screening will include an introduction and post-screening Q&A with Elizabeth Sturges Llernena, a New York based artist and art educator featured in the film whose current work aims to heal historic wounds by raising awareness about the present-day impacts of slavery.
