Evan Wood brings a band of New York City-based musicians to the Knickerbocker for a night of highly improvisational music with roots in jazz, funk, hip hop, and R&B. Expect high energy, dynamic, and fun music from this group of young up-and-coming musicians.

Connecticut native Evan Wood has been behind the drums since he was barely walking, and it shows. A dynamic, groove-driven drummer with deep roots in jazz, funk, hip-hop, and house, Evan brings a fresh, boundary-pushing approach to live improvisational music while honoring the rich traditions that came before him. 

A product of Eastern Connecticut State University’s jazz program and having studied under acclaimed drummer Jonathan Barber, Evan has quickly become a sought-after sideman and bandleader across the Connecticut jazz scene and now New York City, where he currently resides. Whether leading his own projects or collaborating across genres, his playing is expressive, high-energy, and deeply musical.
